Ipsy

August 2014

Welcome back! We have August's bag here! I have to say that I was really excited to get this bag this month. All of my samples were things I am really excited to use. I am not at all impressed with the bag this month; but, the samples are definitely worthy this month!

  • Glamglow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment
  • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
  • Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner
  • Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil
  • Manna Kadar Cosmetics

GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD TINGLEXFOLIATE Treatment: Full-size: $69.00 1.7 fl oz
Designed as a 10-minute professional 'facial in a jar' for behind-the-scenes use in Hollywood's Entertainment, Music, Fashion & Award industries, YOUTHMUD provides immediate camera-ready glowing skin.

I was beyond ecstatic when I saw that I was getting this little guy! As you can see from the full-size price, this stuff has a heft price tag. However, there are nothing but rave reviews over GLAMGLOW and all of their mud masks. I am definitely going to be using this guy tonight!

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara: Full-size: $22.00 .4 fl oz
Bigger. Blacker. Badder. Urban Decay's ultra-creamy, lengthening and volumizing mascara features triple-black pigments and a deeply nourishing ingredient blend. Perversion Mascara gets you sexy in one stroke, yet it won't quit until you say when.

I was holding my breath this month when it came to the Urban Decay products. They were offering the eyeliner again, along with this. I already received an Urban Decay eyeliner in a previous bag and I wanted to try their mascara. I am really glad that I got this! I can't wait to try it!

Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner: Full-size $5.50 .15 oz
Slather on this balm for soft lips all year long. Mongongo oil has hydrating, regenerating and reconstructing properties and offers a unique protection from UV and environmental pollutants in skin applications. Mongongo oil is rich in calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper and anti-oxidants. Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Dense Lip Conditioners are 100% natural and USDA certified organic.

This lip balm is so soft and buttery. It glides on like silk and it doesn't have a weighty feel to it. It stays put for a very long time too. It instantly makes my dry lips feel soft. I really enjoy it! I have so many lip butters that I don't know how i'll get through them all.

Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil: Full-size: Unknown (website is currently down)
Sensual and exotic, that's the effect that Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil delivers. Just like the traditional Kohl, but with the modern ease and control of a pencil. Giving a semi-matte finish that is also smudge able, Silk Kajal Kohl's soft tip is ophthalmological-tested and gentle enough to be used on the inner eye. Also available in Nudo and White.

I always enjoy getting eye pencils. I don't use them very often because I only use them in my water line and they smudge off shortly after I apply it. I love my MAC eye kohl so I am excited to try another kohl pencil to see if I can get the same long lasting effect; in a different color!

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo: Full-size: $29.00
Sheer Glo is an incandescent liquid that lights up skin with all over radiance. Mix with foundation or wear alone to provide a luminous glow for all skin types. An especially amazing product for mature or dry skin. Sheer Glo provides a youthful glow and dewy finish. Use on face and/or body and get glowing.

I only wear SPF on my face, if I remember. I have already gotten a BB cream that I am saving for the Fall. I seem to start sweating immediately when I go out side in the Summer months so I don't even try to wear anything on my face. I wanted to branch out of that comfort zone and wear something during the Fall/Winter so I figured a BB cream would be light but still provide some coverage. This will be nice to wear with it to give myself a glow. I tested it on my hand and it gives a slight pinkish shimmer to the skin. It is very pretty.

That's it! Thank you guys for tuning in and I will see you next month!

Until then,
Rebecca

July 2014

Sorry that I am so late once again. However, I can post the full information about these items, unlike my Birch Box and Beauty Box Five. Apologies for those two, once again. Let's jump right on in!

What I received:
  • bareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow
  • Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil
  • Pixi Beauty Mini Tinted Brilliance Balm
  • Marrakesh Hair Care
  • wHet Nail Polish

BareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow SPF 15: Full-Size: $18.00; .10 fl. oz.
Meet the next generation in eyeshadow: creamy, long-wearing color meets exceptional skincare benefits and broach spectrum SPF protection. Chock-full of skin-loving ingredients, this breath through products delivers 5 benefits in one luxurious formula. Available in a range of 10 neutral shades.

I was not impressed with this product. While it boasts to be a BB cream eyeshadow, it does not work well as a base to other eye shadow. I could barely see anything that I wanted to put over it. On its own is just as worse. The applicator provided put it on in a very thick manner. The instant that I opened my eye I had noticeable, deep creases in my eye. It seems like something you'd need to apply very thinly with a brush or wait for it to dry. Either way I didn't particularly enjoy it. When left to it's own devices the color was nice and bold. However, when thinning it out with an eye shadow brush, the color turned sheer and transparent; you could't even tell I had anything on. I was hoping for more but was let down with this one. I'm sure there is an application trick in there somewhere to make this work as intended.

Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 08: Full-size: $11.99; 8 oz.
Highlight your healthy glow with our organically indulgent dark tanning oil. Rich in vitamins, antioxidants, & exotic plant extracts. Tan naturally!

I had no need for this. When I am outside in the sun I try to wear an SPF, not a tanning oil. My husband jokingly said that he would use it. It's been sitting on his desk every since.

Pixi Beauty Mini Tinted Brilliance Balm: Full-size: $14.00; .1 oz.
Packed with lip-loving ingredients, this glossy gel balm protects & hydrates instantly. After the balm wears off, lips are left tinted with a flattering, personalized hue just for you (color & intensity dependson pH level of lips.) Twist up crayon requires no sharpening. Secure lid after use.
I have to say that this balm does feel very nice on my lips. I haven't noticed the tinting after effects of the balm, as it is such a light color to begin with; Unique Pink. It also has a slight minty  feel/fragrance. Very delightful.

Marrakesh Hair Care Marrakesh Ends: Full-size: $5.99 - $17.99; 1 oz. - 4 oz.
Our powerful blend of nutrient-rich Argan Oil, from Morocco, ultra fortifying Hemp Seed Oil, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, and Panthenol seals and repairs split ends, while preventing future damage. Ends will naturally look and feel thicker and long lasting frizz and static control is safe for color treated hair!

This product smells AMAZING. My hair is naturally wavy, so you can imagine how out of control it is with frizz in the warm, humid months. This stuff definitely takes the frizz from my hair and helps it lay nice and straight. I just cannot get over how amazing this product smells in my hair. And for the price point? Definitely worth getting the 4 oz. Definitely something worth getting over and over again.

wHet Nail Polish in Facetious: Full-size: $15.00; uncertain
Plafully jocular and jumorous. Chip resistant, high shine, vegan nail polish is "three free" and void of harmful chemicals like formaldehyde, toluene, and did. Plus, it's made in the USA and never tested on animals.

This color is GORGEOUS! I am so mad I didn't take advantage of the iPsy code when I had the chance. I am absolutely in love with this color and this brand. The formula was perfect. I will definitely be wearing this again and again come fall and winter. The color looks bright in my photo but it is definitely a darker blue. And it's a jelly. Jelly sandwich anyone!?

That's it! Those were all of my items in July. It was definitely a great bag. And iPsy allowed you to get a sneak peek of your August bag early. And OMGosh!! I have such an AMAZING bag next month too!! That one will definitely go up quick!

Until Next Time,

Rebecca

June 2014

Howdy folks! This morning I bring you the June 2014 bag from Ipsy! This month was full of goodies! Let's get started!

This month's theme is Pretty in Paradise. The products given in this month's bag will definitely help you achieve that. They are products that will give you a wonderful, minimal, natural look so you can enjoy being outdoors with no hassle!

This is also the second month where Ipsy had a design collaboration with a designed for the bag! This month? Rebecca Minkoff! I was so excited when I saw this because I LOVE her bags, but they're slightly outside of my price range. This bag screams summer and paradise.

It's a gorgeous navy blue nylon bag with prints of flowers. I was in love the moment I saw this bag.

Here is what I received this month!
  • Be A Bombshell Lash Out Mascara
  • Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray
  • NYX Butter Gloss
  • Essence of Beauty Fine Fragrance Body Mist
  • Jesse's Girl Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

Be A Bombshell Lash Out Mascara: Full-size: $15 .25 oz.
A rich pigmented mascara with a lengthening formula that offers a multidimensional look.

So, looks good, right? I was pretty excited to try this mascara. It's a full-size item and its from be a bombshell. I always enjoyed getting their products from Ipsy in the past. However, this mascara smells absolutely foul. It smells like plastic. It is so off-putting that I probably won't even use it. I am honestly quite scared to put something that smells that way near my eyes. The reviews on Ipsy's website don't have anything favorable for the mascara as well. Everyone had the issue of it being dry and flakey once it dried and some say that it even made lashes fall out! I personally did not want to try this after I smelled it; that was enough of a deterrent for me.

Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray: Full-size: $6.99 (on sale) 4.2 fl oz.
Create natural, effortless, beach hair worn loose, soft and wavy. It adds body and texture to straight, fine strands or pumps up the curl in already wavy hair. Add extra definition to your wavy layers. Hydrolyzed Silk and Provitamin B5 protect your tresses while adding moisture and shine. Powerful UV protectors absorb ultraviolet light to save your mane from harmful sun exposure, dehydration and color-fade. You're left with manageable, touchable waves. Even the straightest hair can achieve tousled beach hair any time of year.

I was excited to try, honestly! I don't do much with my hair besides washing it and letting it air dry. I did receive a beach spray in an Ipsy bag about a year ago. However, it left my hair feeling crinkly and hard. This boasts a soft, touchable feel. I will definitely be throwing this in my vacation essentials bag and giving it a test run! Even though it will probably be too hot to wear my hair down, I can still throw it in a long pony with beachy waves!

Nyx Butter Gloss: Full-size: $5.00 .27 fl oz.
Buttery soft and silky smooth, the scrumptious new NYX Butter Lip Gloss tastes as sweet as a sugar cookie -- and makes your lips look downright luscious. Swipe it on alone or over your favorite lipstick for creamy sheer to medium coverage that melts onto your lips and is never sticky.

LOVE! I already own about five of these! I got this one in the color Apple Strudel. Which was good because one of the colors offered I already have! Dodged a bullet on that one! These are so soft and buttery, just like the name suggests. It has amazing pigmentation so you get a solid color in a gloss. This one is a sheer nude with a slight corally pink tint to it. It makes for a beautiful nude. And, being a gloss, it reapplies easily after eating or drinking with a doe-foot applicator. It smells AMAZING, kind of like cake. I cannot say enough good things about NYX Butter Gloss! I have seen them selling in my local CVS and Target as well so you don't have to order online through Nyx or Ulta (like I had too). Amazing!

Essence of Beauty Fine Fragrance Body Mist: Full-size: $2.99 2 oz.
Essence of Beauty Forever Paris Fine Fragrance Mist is a light, delicate mist that offers lading fragrance and soothes skin. This fruity floral brings to life Robert Doisneau's famous photo of a kissing couple and features cassis, Parisian roses, French vanilla and amber.

This can be purchased from CVS. On their online site it says, "A warm blend of strawberry, tulips and Parisian roses to sweep you off your feet." And, this fragrance does just that. At first whiff it reminded me of the Bath and Body Works scent Sweet Pea. A very romantic scent. Even better? This sample came shrink wrapped. That's right folks; shrink wrapped. To avoid spillage while in transit. A+ Ipsy, A+.

Jesse's Girl Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner: Full-size: $6.99 .017 oz.
This true black liquid liner creates a bold, precise, ultra-fine line that's both waterproof and smudge-proof. The unique, calligraphy-style brush allows you to create lines as thing as one millimeter!

I don't normally do eyeliner, but I am excited at the prospect of using this to create some looks. This eyeliner has a felt tip and has no noticeable odors (whew!). I will try this out when I get back off of vacation because I rub my eyes when I get something in them. Smudged liner will not look cute lol.

That's it! Overall it was a fantastic bag with the exception, of course, of the mascara. All of the items were of great size and value and the bag made it even more amazing! I can't wait to see what they have up their sleeve for July!

May 2014

Evening everyone! I apologized for the lack of April Birchbox and the same goes for iPsy. April was just a bad month and between classes and getting annoyed with my camera situation, I just lost track of all the samples I received in my bag. Anywho, I do have this months for you. And it will be up before the end of the month!

This month's theme was Beauty Fresh Picks. It was mostly about skin care this month which is a bit different from the norm, but was not completely unwelcome. I did receive some products that I don't normally reach for, but it is always good to have a sample of it in case I need it when I don't have it.

Here is what I got.

  • Hang Ten Classic Sport SPF 50
  • Pacifica Mineral Eye Shadow Duo
  • Balanced Guru No Frizz Organic Sesame and Lemongrass Balancing Oil
  • Hey Honey Take It Off! Exfoliating Honey Peel Off Mask
  • Pur~lisse Pur~moist hydra balance moisturizer

Hang Ten Classic Sport SPF 50: Full-size, $12.99

"Protect and nourish your skin with our clear, lightweight, naturally scented sunscreen. Provides maximum water resistance and full body coverage against harmful UVA/UVB rays."

I am in no way opposed to protecting your skin from the sun. I, however, have a horrible record of actually doing it. However, this is an all natural alternative to what you probably find it stores. However, I usually stick with my usual Banana Boat and have no issues with it so this will probably only go in a travel case for emergencies when I forget mine or run out.

--Bed Time for Kiddo, more to come!--

--And we're back--

Pacifica Mineral Eyeshadow Duo in Moonbeam and Unicorn: Full-size, $??

"The Pacifica Mineral Eyeshadow Duo are coconut infused mineral eye shadows that are a perfect addition to any makeup collection. Packaged in a beautiful travel ready recyclable container, these exclusive duos are customized just for iPsy! These shades can be found in the Pacifica Mystical and Charmed Palette. Smooth application with gorgeous color pay-off."

I honestly really like these colors. A lot of people complained about poor pigmentation and fall our and a glittery mess but I didn't experience any of that with these. They are very sheer so if you want them to show up more vibrant than a primer is a must. However, I do like the sheer look that the shadows give. I'm going to have to start doing looks and posting it with particular products so you guys can see how it looks when applied.

Balanced Guru No Frizz Organic Sesame and Lemongrass Balancing Oil: Full-size, $25.00

"Balance frizzy hair without the need to weigh it down with silicones. The Balanced Guru No Frizz Organic Sesame and Lemongrass Balancing Oil controls fly aways with a blend of Sesame, Grapeseed, Jojoba and Tamanu Oils. Show your hair who's boss even in humid and tropical weather. By the way, you will also get incredible shine and manageability."

I am really enjoying getting these hair oils lately in my beauty subs. I think the humidity hits everyone hard, but myself in particular, have these horrible fly aways right around my face when I put my hair up. It's like mini side afros. I cannot pull the look off, at all. I am looking forward to try hair oil this summer to see if I can tame some of the frizz when its so humid out that I absolutely have to put my hair up or i'll die. I can definitely pick up the hints of lemon when smelling it, but my nose is not sensitive enough to pick up anything else.

Hey Honey Take It Off! Exfoliating Honey Peel Off Mask: Full-size, $35.00

"Instantly renews skin, leaving it refreshed and clean after only a few minutes. This gel mask helps promote a smooth and clear complexion for a post facial feeling. Take It Off! is quick and easy to use, so exfoliating you can feel beautifully refreshed, radiant and ready to go in just a few minutes."

Okay, so the description of this is a bit off putting. It says that you can be ready to go in just minutes, but the directions definitely say to let it set for about 15-20 minutes. So, you will definitely need a good half hour in order to go through the whole routine. That being said, I love peel off masks. Totally remind me of when I was in elementary school and would apply elmer's glue all over my hand and let it dry, then peel it off. Come on, you know you did it too! It has a nice sweet scent too it and it is a clear gel.

Pur~liss Pur~moist Hydra Balance Moisturizer: Full-size, $55.00

"Achieve beautiful balance with the Pur-lisse put~moist hydra balance moisturizer. Gently smooth over face day or night after cleansing and toning. Glides on like a gel and hydrates like a cream and never greasy. Hydrates your skin to create a perfect canvas for makeup application. Dries down to a healthy glow."

Well, that is a mighty expensive product! I must say that intrigues me even more to use it! It sounds like a dream to use, so I will definitely be trying this out soon! I can't tell if it has a fragrance or not, its very slight if it does.

That's it! Like I said, it was outside of the norm but it wasn't completely unwelcome. I am excited to try some of these out soon!

April 2014

March 2014

Greetings!

I am back with my March glambag! I received this a few days ago, so I am doing better about posting what I got! This months theme was 'Destination Beauty,' and let me tell you, this bag was amazing!

This month, Ipsy teamed up with San Francisco, CA artist Klari for the design of their glam bag.

"The print of this exclusive tipsy makeup bag is a selection from artist Klari Reis' geography-based series, "Street Anatomy," and showcases San Francisco, CA (Reis' hometown and ipsy headquarters). To view more from Klari, please visit her website at www.klariart.com."

I absolutely love how they teamed up with local talent. This is a great way to get their name out into the world and make people aware of their art that wouldn't otherwise be. The bag itself had a waxy outside finish, making for easy cleanup of any spilled items on it.

Here is what I got in my bag this month!

  • bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in 'Get Ready'
  • Nicole by OPI Roughles
  • Be a Bombshell Bora Bora eyeshadow quad
  • Pixi Beauty Flawless Beauty Primer

bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in 'Get Ready' - Full price: $18.00

"Make an impact with Marvelous Moxie™ Lipstick. Creamy, super-saturated, ultra-pigmented color glides on like butter for full coverage in a rich satin finish. Lips look fuller and more voluptuous. An infusion of minerals revitalizes lips for a healthy-looking pout, while a moisture-loaded hydrating complex helps to nourish and condition with Abyssinian Oil and Omega Fatty Acids for supple, baby-soft smoothness. All the while, an encapsulated vitamin A, C and E complex helps to deliver antioxidant defense, so you’re ready for anything—and everything. Learn more about Marvelous Moxie™ here. "

Ipsy subscribers could only receive this product in the color  'Get Ready'. It is a gorgeous dusty rose color and goes on like silk. As you can see in the picture above, they offer free shipping plus a free sample of their Lash Domination mascara with any bareMinerals purchase!

Nicole by OPI Roughles in "On What Grounds?" - Full size: $8.99

"Nicole by OPI launches Roughles (“ruffles”) - 4 new textured nail lacquers featuring speckled, pastel shades of purple, pink, turquoise and yellow. When the lacquer dries, Roughles lacquers reveal a unique pebbled finish. For the perfect matte effect, skip the top coat!"

It was absolute torture this month once I found out this was a potential item in the glambags. Every other time, I always peeked at my glam room. I wanted to be surprised for once so I decided ahead of their previews that I was not going to look. I have been hunting for these in my stores since I learned of their release this month with no luck. I have been so disappointed to not find any! Imagine the squeal (literally!) of excitement when I saw this in my bag when I opened it!

Be a Bombshell Bora Bora eyeshadow quad - Full size: $ 16.00

"The Bora Bora Eyeshadow Quad contains a highly pigmented long lasting formula for all day wear. To use as an eyeliner, wet the tip of your brush and dip end into the shadow and apply on lash line. For base colors, blend shadow from lash line to brow bone with a wide shadow brush using gentle upward strokes. For accent colors, blend shade in the outer crease of your eye gently working inward. Gently blend base and accent colors together using light, feathery strokes. For highlighting, gently brush under brow bone."

I know a lot of ipsters are kind of tired of seeing Be a Bombshell cosmetics in their glambags, but I personally really love the brand. I always enjoyed all of the stuff that I receive that is by them. When I saw the two palettes that were offered, I was kind of hoping for the Nyx one. After seeing reviews of how it was chalky and didn't have good color payoff, I went back to hoping I had this one lol. Needless to say, I am happy with this quad. I don't play with bright colors often but I think these are very summery and I am intrigued in trying to find some nice soft looks that incorporate this quad.

Pixi Beauty Flawless Beauty Primer - Full Size: $ 22.00

"The Pixi Beauty Flawless Beauty Primer is loaded with skin loving ingredients. Formula contains powerful anti-aging and skin fortifying benefits. Formula suitable for all skin types."

Ipsy loves giving out pixi beauty samples lol. This is probably the third one I have received over the course of having my subscription. I have to say, I was disappointed to begin with when I got these, but I am excited about these now. I did a little research about concealing my under eye bags because I hate the way normal conceal or looks dry and flaky when used without a foundation. I found out that you can use a tinted primer or BB creme as a concealer. Life changing, let me tell ya.

That is it! I hope you guys enjoy seeing what I get, and I will see you here next week! Stay tuned. I have my Birch Box too, and that will hopefully go up by the end of the weekend!

February 2014

Greetings!

I do apologize for not posting in a while. Between school and baby and everything online leaving me in a state of perpetual hypnosis (seriously, it's not even that interesting) I have been slacking lately. However, I figured it would be a good idea to get this months Ipsy bag up before the month is over! So, here we go!

So, the February theme was The Look of Love. First off, the bag this month was so stinking cute, I just had to show you. The outside is a gorgeous pink with a white zipper, and the inside was a gorgeous pink cheetah print.

I did not take a complete shot of what I got, so I am going to just jump right on in on what I received! I got the following items:
  • POP Beauty - Plump Pout Mini in Peony Petal
  • Mally Beauty - Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner
  • Zoya - Nail Polish in Odette
  • City Color - Be Matte Blush in Fresh Melon
  • J.Cat Beauty - Eyelashes and Eyeglue in EL213

POP Beauty - Plump Pout Mini in Peony Petal

According to the Ipsy website:

"This plumping pout perfector combines the high-shine of a lacquered gloss with the long wear of a stain and is packed full of lip-plumping peptides and avocado and jojoba oils. Lightweight, creamy texture immediately merges with lips & delivers intense glossy color for an extremely long-lasting finish!

ipsy subscribers who receive this product will receive Peony Petal or Fuschia Freesia."

This is a 4g deluxe sample size. A full-size of this product is not mentioned on the website, but a full size costs $16.00. You can buy this directly from the POP Beauty website.

This looks like a gorgeous color. As you can see, I haven't opened it yet. Haven't been in much of a mood to get dolled up recently. But, I do plan on going out and about with my mom tomorrow, so maybe I will wear it then!

Mally Beauty - Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner

According to the Ipsy website:

"This creamy formula glides effortlessly onto the lid and locks into lower rim to beautifully define your eyes. Create a fine line or a thicker line with no pulling or tugging. Wear it as a shadow by applying to the lid and smudge. Rich and full, this liner will give a strong coverage that lasts all day.

ipsy subscribers who receive this product will receive Starlight."

This is a full size of the product. It's retail price is $15.00. You can buy it directly from the Mally Beauty website.

This is a gorgeous color. It is a nice silver and glides on beautifully. I have only swatched it, but I am excited to give it a try! Maybe tomorrow!

Zoya Nail Polish in Odette

According to the Ipsy website:

"This season's Zoya Nail polish are full of pure pigment, intense color and modern complexity that are a perfect transition into Spring.

ipsy subscribers who receive this product will receive Odette or Dot."

This is a full-size product. It retails for $9.00. You can buy it, and many other gorgeous Zoya polish, directly from their website.

I cannot express how excited I was to find out we were getting a Zoya polish in this month's bag! On top of that, it was from the new Naturel collection! I am so excited to try this one out! All of the ones in the collection are light pink neutral's; however, this one has a bit more color and depth to it than the others. Super excited!

City Color - Be Matte Blush in Fresh Melon

According to the Ipsy website:

"Available in 4 shades, this silky-smooth, highly pigmented matte blush compliments and blends evenly with your skin's natural glow. Extremely buildable to create a subtle or dramatic look.

ipsy subscribers who receive this product will receive Fresh Melon, Blackberry, Dragonfruit, or Toasted Coconut. "

This is a full-size of this product. It retails for $2.99. You can buy this directly from the City Color website.

I am not a huge blusher user. I have one from NYX from a previous Ipsy glam bag that I have in my ready to use stash in the off chance that I want to use some. I will probably end up giving this beauty to someone who will actually get some use out it.

J.Cat Beauty Eyelashes and Eyeglue in EL213

According to the Ipsy website:

"Cause a ruckus as you bat your voluminous faux eyelashes! Each includes an individual eyelash adhesive for endurance through a night on the town!

- Eyelash glue is latex free
- Perfect for sensitive eyes
- Lashes can be used up to 10 times
- Creates the perfect natural look"

This is, of course, one set of lashes. These retail for $3.99 a pair. You can buy them directly from the J.Cat Beauty website.

I was initially excited to actually receive these. There was an eyeshadow palette that was offered that I probably would have gotten more wear out of. However, I have always wanted to try false lashes, and now I can!

Overall, I was happy with my glam bag! I can't wait to break into some of these products and actually start using them (now that the month is almost over).

Until Next Time,

Rebecca

January 2014

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!

I am an Ipsy glam bag subscriber and I thought I would go ahead and share with you what I get in my glam bag each month. For those of you that do not know, Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service that gets mailed to your home for $10/month. Not too bad considering their bags usually have way more then $10 worth of products in them. I have been receiving it for about a year now, but I am not going to back track that far. I will go ahead and start with what I got for my January 2014 glam bag.

So the theme of the January glam bag is '19 Reasons.' This bag leaned heavily towards beauty care products. Hair masks, skin exfoliates, lip balms; everything you would do to prep yourself before getting beautiful! Here are the items I got in my January bag:

  • Briogeo Don't Despair Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask
  • Épicé Purifying Exfoliant
  • MicaBeauty Tinted Lip Balm in the color Natural
  • Proactive+ Mark Fading Pads
  • Yaby Liquid Foundation in the color buff

Briogeo Don't Despair Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask

According to the Ipsy website:

"Repair and treat dry, damaged and breaking hair with Don't Despair, Repair!™ deep conditioning mask. Fortified with ultra-hydrating avocado, sweet almond & argan oils, strengthening keratin protein, power-conditioning rosehip oil, soothing aloe, and super hair-essential vitamins B5, D, A, E and biotin. This unique complex of targeted ingredients helps increase hair elasticity and moisture to prevent breakage, promotes healthy shine and luster, and replenishes strength. "

This is a 1 oz deluxe sample size. A full size retail container is 5.25 oz. and costs $26.

I have not used this yet, but it has a nice scent and has a nice thick consistency; one you'd look for in a deep conditioning hair mask. You can buy this directly from the Briogeo website.

Épicé Purifying Exfoliant

According to the Ipsy website:

"A unique exfoliant which removes excess dirt and dead skin cells all while activating collagen production and hydrating your skin. This moisture rich formula utilizes mild, non-irritating and anti-bacterial cleansers with micro-fine polyspheres which enhances skin texture and clarity for a clean, fresh appearance. Purifying Exfoliant is also great to use on the entire body and after just a few uses, you will begin to see improvement in the look and feel of your skin.

Benefits:
Micro-fine polyspheres gently exfoliate removing excess dead cells and environmental debris.
Exfoliation helps open pores, which increases excretion of toxins.
Packed with emollients, humectants and barrier protectors to hydrate dry, irritated skin.
Contains several natural collagen boosters for damaged skin.
Softens skin as it cleans.
Non-irritating, antiseptic, bacteria and fungus fighting properties. "

This is a 1 oz deluxe sample size. A full size retail container is 3.3 oz and costs $32.

I have not used this yet, but it doesn't have a very nice smell. It smells almost chemical to me. It does have very fine microbeads in it that will gently exfoliate the skin without being too harsh. You can buy this directly from the Épicé website.

MicaBeauty Tinted Lip Balm

According to the Ipsy website:

"MicaBeauty's 24 hour Tinted Lip Balm conditions your lips without smudge while delivering sophisticated finish. For a sheer wash of color, one swipe is all you need. For a bolder pout, simply apply another swipe and this lip balm will create lips every woman covets. Kiss-proof and smudge-proof! "

This is a 2.5g deluxe sample sized product. Full size for this item is 4g and retails for $30. You can purchase it directly from the MicaBeauty website.

I absolutely loved this product. Ipsy subscribers could receive this in either Fiesta or Natural. I got mine in Natural and let me tell you, it is the perfect shade for me. I have paler skin and freckles, and most nude lip colors wash me out and have way too much yellow in them. This has some pink undertones to it and looks absolutely amazing on me. It is a matte finish balm, and it can show any areas of dry skin that you have on your lips. I simply put on some lip balm before this and it looked flawless. I am so happy about this product!

Proactiv+ Mark Fading Pads

According to the Ipsy website:

"The Proactiv+ Mark Fading Pads are a convenient, single-use, no-rinse peel pad that can instantly boost your skin’s glow and radiance. The pads help remove dead skin cells to unclog pores and remove dull layers to reveal newer, smoother, more even toned skin. With just a few quick swipes you can help fade away post acne dark marks, reduce the appearance of fine lines and enlarged pores.

The Mark Fading Pads are part of the Proactiv+ Complete Kit along with the Eye Brightening Serum and new 3-step System: Skin Smoothing Exfoliator, Pore Targeting Treatment and Complexion Perfecting Hydrator for $39.95 a month. "

These are, of course, sample packets. Like it says in the description you can acquire this in a treatment package for $39.95 a month. You can buy it at their website.

I have to say I was pretty disappointed about getting these. While I do have acne scars and such that I would love to fade, you would need way more than four of these in order to see any significant change. I think these would be best used in single instances when you're trying to boost your skins appearance. I haven't tried one myself yet, but I will see how they work. I can tell you now, I will not be ordering that monthly bundle.

Yaby Liquid Foundation

According to the Ipsy website:

"The yaby Liquid Foundation leaves an unbelievably natural, super smooth texture and is extremely easy to apply. Mimics the skin's natural sheen to create the most realistic flawless skin. Oil-free. "

This is a 15.4g deluxe sample size. I can't find an exact full size description from the site; It says that it comes in an 8mm tube. Full size retails for $13.99. You can find it at Camera Ready Cosmetics website.

I am not much of a foundation girl, but I am willing to try something that is natural and doesn't really wear like foundation. This only came in the color buff, so I am assuming that the only girls that had a chance of getting this were those with light skin tone. That is really unfortunate because there are much more then just the one shade on the website. I am sure they could have found something for at least a few different shades. However, this has nothing but excellent reviews online, so if you're wanting to try something new I'd give it a try.

That's it! As always, if you want to subscribe go to Ipsy's website and check their Facebook page. Sometimes they have promotions where you can skip the wait list and get straight into receiving your monthly bags. If there is an item that you got that you can't stand and never want to see another of it again, be sure to review the products that you got in your bag. It is supposed to help tell Ipsy what you like and what you don't like so they tailor your bags for things that you'll enjoy and want more of. And, don't forget, each month all of the products that supplied samples does give ipsters a discount code if you want to purchase more of their products!

I don't believe I can make new 'posts' on this page, so, when I go to update February's bag, it will be at the top above this one so that way you don't have to scroll down to find it!

Stay tuned for next month!

Rebecca
